Krishna Leela Golden Theme In Traditional Phad Painting

Phad Painting or Phad is a style of religious scroll painting and folk painting, practiced in Rajasthan state of India. This style of painting is traditionally done on a long piece of cloth or canvas, known as a phad. The narratives of the folk deities of Rajasthan, mostly of Pabuji and Devnarayan are depicted on the phads.

In this masterclass, we will do “Gopi Vastra Haran Krishna Leela”. This beautiful painting is done on board and depicts Gopi Vastra Haran Krishna Leela. Vastra Haran Leela or the pastime of Shri Krishna where the young Krishna has stolen the Gopis' clothing while they were bathing and is shown sitting in a kadamba tree teasing the naked cowherdesses shivering in the cold water.
