Born in 1969, in a village named Pur near Bhilwara, Rajasthan, Kalyan Joshi comes from as early as the 13th from a lineage of Phad Artists of as early as the 13th century. Kalyan Joshi started painting from the age of 8 with his father Shri Lal Joshi who was an acclaimed Padmashri honoree.
He along with all other Joshi artists come from the Joshi lineage of Chippa cloth printers and dryers. He has created many paintings in the form of Historical, Religious, Social and Contemporary art.
Kalyan joshi has experimented with new stories, contemporary style painting and line drawing. He is the founder of “Ankan Artist Group” since 1990, he has conducted over 200 workshops at various Schools all over India, and SPICMACAY. He works diligently to make his own paper and colours using natural herbs and dyes. This endows his work with a freshness and lustre.
Some of his work adorns important personal and corporate collections in India and other countries.
