This painting features Lord Buddha, seated in a meditative posture under Bodhi tree, symbolising the tree under which he attained enlightenment. His one hand is placed in a gesture of meditation with yoga beads in the other hand. He is wearing a white robe, draped over one of his shoulders, symbolising simplicity and renunciation of worldly possessions. The fiery red background isn't just a pretty backdrop, rather  it draws our attention straight to Buddha adding an aura of power and importance to his presence. Brown often symbolises nature and the earth. So, the brown border acts like a frame, enclosing the red world within and reminding us of Buddha's connection to the natural world.
