About the Workshop

Create this stunning and intricate Pichwai painting of "Divine Face of Shrinathji with Gold Foil" with native artist Mr. Rajnish Nimbark. Learn this ancient art form's motifs, techniques, and history under close Rajnishji's guidance.

Pichwai painting: Pichwai painting traces its origins back over 400 years to Nathdwara, near Udaipur in Rajasthan, India. These exquisite artworks, crafted on cloth, are renowned for their intricate details and captivating beauty. Pichwai paintings primarily depict various episodes from the life of Lord Krishna, showcasing scenes from his divine journey and mythological narratives.

"Divine Face of Shrinathji with Gold Foil "This Pichwai painting beautifully depicts the serene face of Shrinathji, a sacred form of Lord Krishna, shown with calm, closed eyes that express peace and devotion. The deep blue complexion symbolizes divinity and spiritual depth, while the elaborate pink turban decorated with pearls and a peacock feather adds royal elegance.
The head is adorned with an elaborate pink turban decorated with intricate gold foil work, jewels, and a peacock feather, adding a royal and sacred touch.
The jewelry is highly detailed, with layered pearl necklaces, golden ornaments, and colorful stones that enhance the richness of the composition. The use of gold foil will make these elements shine and give a luxurious, glowing effect when light falls on the painting. On both sides, decorative earrings shaped like parrots add a traditional Pichwai charm.

The background is filled with blooming lotus flowers and flowing green vines, representing purity, harmony, and devotion. The symmetrical arrangement and vibrant colors like pink, green, gold, and blue are characteristic of traditional Pichwai art.

Gold Foil: Gold foil is a very thin sheet of real gold that is used to decorate paintings and give them a rich, shining effect. In traditional Pichwai painting, gold foil is applied to highlight important areas like jewelry, crowns, borders, and ornaments. It reflects light beautifully, making the artwork look more divine and attractive.
The process of using gold foil requires great skill. First, the surface is prepared with a special adhesive. Then the delicate gold foil is carefully placed on the sticky area using a soft brush. After it dries, the artist gently presses and smooths it so it sticks properly and shines evenly.
Gold foil not only adds beauty but also gives a sense of royalty and sacredness to the painting. It has been used in Indian art for centuries, especially in temple paintings and religious artworks. Because real gold is used, it does not fade or tarnish easily, so the shine lasts for a long time.
