A mural is an artwork painted or applied directly onto walls, ceilings or any other permanent surface. In murals, architectural elements of the given space are harmoniously incorporated into its creation. Among murals, the ones from Kerala stand out for their finesse.
In this workshop, we're going to do a painting of a traditional style Kerala Mural of ‘Lord Harihara’, with master native artist Mr. Saju M.P. who will take you through the process of creating this beautiful painting using the right traditional motifs and techniques of the Kerala Mural artform.
Lord Harihara is the fusion avatar of Lord Vishnu (Hari) and Lord Shiva (Hara), symbolizing their underlying unity. Harihara is often termed as Shankarnarayana. The symbolism of Harihara shows that in Hinduism, it represents the unity of different divine aspects. It highlights the belief that, in the end, all gods are forms of the same supreme reality known as Brahman. "Hahi and Hara are complementary to each other.
